Meditation
Meditation is a practice in which the individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to achieve some specific benefit such as mentally recognizing a content without feeling identified with that content, or as an end in itself.
The term meditation refers to a broad spectrum of practices that include techniques designed to promote everything from relaxation to building internal energy or life force ( Qì, ki, chi, prāṇa, etc. ). A particularly ambitious form of meditation aims to maintain concentration at one point without effort, focused on enabling its practitioner to achieve a state of well-being in any life activity.
Or equally to be used in the practice of Buddhism or inHinduism as Sadhana, with the ultimate goal of achieving a state of spiritual enlightenment called Samadhi, Kenshō, etc; which in these Eastern religions, would be one of the paths leading to the ultimate goal of Moksha or Nirvana.
Meditation takes on different meanings in different contexts; it has been practiced since ancient times as a component of numerous religions and beliefs, but meditation does not constitute a religion in itself. Meditation usually involves an internal effort to self-regulate the mind in some way.
