Kinesiology

Kinesiology or kinesiology (from the Greek kínēsis ‘ movement ‘, and logos ‘treatise, study’) is the scientific study of body movement. Kinesiology addresses the principles and mechanisms of physiological , biomechanical and psychodynamic movements . Applications of kinesiology to human health (i.e. human kinesiology ) include biomechanics and orthopedics (strength and conditioning), sport psychology (motor control) skill acquisition and motor learning, rehabilitation methods (physical and occupational therapy), and sport and exercise physiology.

Human and animal movement studies include measurements from motion tracking systems, electrophysiology of muscle and brain activity. As well as various methods for monitoring physiological function and other cognitive and behavioral research techniques.

Scope of Practice
Kinesiologists work in various roles as healthcare professionals: as rehabilitation providers in hospitals, clinics, and private settings, working with populations who need care for musculoskeletal, cardiac, and neurological conditions.

They provide rehabilitation for people injured on the job and in traffic accidents. They also work as functional assessment specialists, physical therapists, ergonomists, return-to-work specialists, case managers, and medico-legal evaluators. They can be found in hospitals, long-term care, clinics, workplaces, and community settings. In addition, Kinesiology is applied in health and fitness fields for all levels of athletes.

Kinesiologists who work in athletic training do so in cooperation with physicians. These physical trainers strive to prevent athletes from sustaining injuries, diagnose them if they have sustained an injury, and, if necessary, apply appropriate treatment.
