So what are the Benefits of Iridology – Your Eyes as the Mirrors of Your Health. The Iris is like a map – each organ, gland and structure of the body is represented in the irises, and a precise location. The more chronic and severe the health issue, the more presentation of iris signs and stages of activity are classified as acute, subacute, chronic and degenerative.
Organs and structures on the left side of the body are seen in the left iris, the same principle applies to the right side and anything central or bilateral are seen in both irises. Interestingly, one school of thought amongst iridologists is that there are only two true colours of the iris – brown and blue.
Iridology – A useful diagnostic tool.
Naturopaths utilise several non-invasive diagnostic tools to assess the needs of the patient best and achieve the benefits of Iridology. The study of the eye’s iris to interpret health signs is known as Iridology and is a useful tool in practice. By studying the markings in the iris and changing patterns, iridologists find they can interpret emerging conditions and to identify inherited weaknesses. Iridology cannot detect a specific disease. Its use acts as a ‘prompt’ to consider using more conclusive diagnostic tests when indicated.
Through the eyes of the Iridologist
An experience with iridology may surprise you, sometimes picking up family history or an aspect of your health that may not seem relevant or obvious. It’s all in the interpretation. Resident Livewell Naturopath and Iridologist Emma Pumfrey explain: “One of the most common presentations I see are what are called nerve rings or ‘rings of achievement’.
They are the rings around the outer edges of the iris that develop over times of prolonged and intense stress, and they can also be inherited from parents giving the patient a predisposition to nervous system-related complaints such as anxiety or poor stress resilience.”
A Vision of Health
As part of a Naturopathic approach to health, Iridology complements a deeper understanding via the interpretation of signs. Awareness of our inherent strengths and weaknesses allows for tailored treatment, including preventative strategies incorporated into therapeutic support. As nutrition improves and the body is cleansed of toxins, the irises should return to their true (blue or brown) colour. With improvements to your health your eyes will indeed be a little brighter!
